Data Engineer - Up to £50k - Major Sports Organisation (SW London + Remote)

The Client and The Role:

This is a unique and exciting opportunity (especially for a sports fan!) to become an integral part of my client, an internationally known sporting organisation's Infrastructure Team, as a Database Administrator.

You will responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the cloud and on-premises databases, as well as maintaining and developing these databases. Applying your knowledge, you'll contribute towards improving the database systems and database related technology.

 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Supporting database systems by the following means:
    1. Monitoring database capacity
    2. Monitoring errors and actioning remediation
    3. Monitoring query performance and helping to optimise query performance
    4. Running standard maintenance tasks
  • Development of new database structures to support business requirements
  • Gathering and documentation of business requirements for new areas of required functionality with database requirements
  • Working with the other teams, you'll assist with optimising processing of data, developing data structures, ensuring data is stored optimally for reporting performance

Skills and Experience: 

  • Proven development experience in Operational and Data Warehouse systems.
  • Experience of business analysis and requirement gathering.
  • PostGreSQL, DB2, MongoDB, Microsoft SQL Server (version 2012 onwards)
  • Experience / understanding of Data Engineering
  • Experience with Cloud databases or an understanding of Cloud Technologies
  • Understanding of databases role in DevOps processes

Location: Remote with 2 days a week at the SW London Office.
