System Engineer - Leading Consultancy –Reading- Fixed term contract £210 a day

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a System engineer to join my client, a leading consultancy.

The organisation prides itself in fostering an excellent working culture, with a strong focus on wellbeing.

The role is fully onsite in the office in Reading, 5 days a week. They are looking for someone with excellent customer service and telephone skills as well,  who is happy to complete various 1st and 2nd line support tasks within a friendly IT team, resolving all queries efficiently or escalating to 3rd line support where needed.

Key skills:

•     Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar IT support role, working to contracted SLAs

•     Positive and enthusiastic communicator

•     Experience of delivering excellent customer service

•     Strong Windows 7/10 support experience

•     Experience with Active Directory, Windows Server, and Exchange

•     Experience with MS Office Suite, including Office 365

•     Experience supporting hardware, printers, scanners and mobile devices


Examples of work will include but no be restricted to:

  • Providing Helpdesk support to Institute staff.
  • Using system management software and tools to collect performance statics and produces required reports.
  • Carrying out agreed system software maintenance, tasks, managing incidents and dealing with escalations.
  • Liaising with customer teams on large scale projects.
  • This role would suit an exceptional communicator looking for a new opportunity to grow and develop their skillset within IT.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multitask, handle high workloads and high call volumes in a busy working environment.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and service improvement.
  • Ability to cross train and pick up different technologies as required.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with users and other support team members.
